Video or audio for your micro podcast? Different formats, completely different outcomes.

Listen Now:

So you can do a micro podcast in either audio or in video, but they’ve got very different purposes and are going to produce very different outcomes for your business.

So video is the most popular type of micro podcast because it allows you, as the content creator, the host of the show, to be able to take advantage of short-form video social media platforms, which just seem to be unending in their growing popularity.

You’ve got TikTok, you’ve got Instagram Reels, you’ve got YouTube Shorts, you’ve got Facebook Shorts.

Everybody seems to want to host and share and disseminate your short-form video content.

So if you know that you have audiences who are using YouTube Shorts, Facebook Shorts, Instagram Reels, or short-form video on any other platform, it makes a lot of sense to be getting your content onto those platforms.

And as I’ve talked about before, creating purpose-made short-form videos always outperform videos that are cut down from longer segments because they are complete in and of themselves and don’t need extra context to be understood or to be valuable.

But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a micro podcast if the thought of video makes you want to run screaming for the hills to hide forever, which is a position I do have a great deal of empathy for.

Ask me about our pretty filters that we use on the back end.

But if you do want to make it just audio, you still can. You still can get a lot of value out of it if the main thing that you’re trying to get is the transcripts of the content that you’re creating.

So a short-form audio podcast is something that somebody could subscribe to on Apple Podcasts, on Spotify.

Many people will, and they will enjoy your little quick updates in the short-form audio that you’re making.

But the real value is in the SEO, where you can make blog posts for the different things that you say, optimize them, interlink them, and all of that other good stuff that goes into a good content marketing strategy.

And the reason this can be valuable for some business owners is some people are talkers, not writers.

And if that’s who you are, and if that’s how you create content best, then an audio micro podcast could help you get all of the good stuff that’s in your brain that doesn’t come out easily through your hands when you’re typing. It can come out beautifully through your voice while you’re speaking and then still be used for people who are readers, who could be equally good clients as other people who are also writers.
