What Are the Business Podcast Blueprints?

There’s a reason that some business owners drive serious revenue with their podcasts, and others waste a lot of time, energy, and resources on theirs.

Protect Your Podcast Investment with Business Podcast Blueprints

The best way to protect your investment in podcasting is by using a methodology that my team and I have developed over years of working with business owners in different industries, and years of studying the top performing business podcasts out there. It’s called the Business Podcast Blueprints, and it’s a method for you to design a show that’s going to work for your business and drive measurable outcomes that you can see, over time and directly related to the work that you’re doing with the show.

A business podcast blueprint is the prime directive for your show. It’s the single most important reason it exists.

It’s not the only good thing it’s going to do for your business.

You’re going to get all sorts of good things from it, but it’s the most important one. And it’s the decision filter that you use for every choice you have to make about your show. You’re going to ask – ‘’will it help me achieve my blueprint?’’.

There are five of them.

The first is relationship building, and these are podcasts where the most important thing that they do is connect you one-to-one with other people. Could be clients, could be other business owners, could be general networking, but what they do is connect you with other people in the form of guests.

Next are audience engagement podcasts, and these are podcasts where you are creating, knowing, liking, and trusting with a whole lot of people at scale. These are great for if you’ve got an audience already, if you’ve got traffic coming to your website, if you’re getting introductions all the time, if you’ve got people filling in your calendar to get on discovery calls with you. These are all people who can really benefit from an audience engagement podcast where you can talk to a lot of people at once who will need the same kind of information.

Then you’ve got thought leadership podcasts, and the most important thing that a thought leadership podcast does is get your information from your brain or from your company archives out into the world so that other people can understand it, see it, and know that you came up with it.

Then you’ve got conversion podcasts, and the most important thing that they do is change listeners or watchers from one type of relationship with you to another type, usually through some kind of paywall or gated content.

And last but not least, there are content podcasts. Now, any podcast that you create is going to make content. That’s just a natural side effect of the process, but it is also perfectly legitimate for a podcast to exist only to create content. These can be great internal shows. They can create the content that goes on social media. They can be filler content or seeder content for longer-term projects like books, courses, other things that you might be creating. If that’s the thing that you want to get out of a podcast, it’s a perfectly legitimate reason to go about it.

So when you look at your business, you want to figure out what your most important goals are, and then figure out which of those blueprints is the most aligned with those most important business goals.

And that is going to be the starting place for all of the other good things that are going to come from your podcast. And choosing that one thing, again, it’s not going to be the only thing that you get out of your podcast, but it’s going to make you faster, more effective, and more focused on getting those results and seeing that return on your investment quickly.
