What Is a Conversion Podcast?

Podcasts and podcast episodes can actually be a direct part of the different funnels associated with your business.

A conversion podcast is one of the lesser-used business podcast blueprints because it can be a little challenging to get up and running and make work effectively.

A conversion podcast is a show where the most important thing it does is move people from one type of relationship with you to another.

That might mean going from stranger to subscriber, from non-buying audience member to paying client, or from non-community member to community member.

Usually, some part of the podcast or some aspect of the podcast is gated in some way.

Podcast episodes might be private behind a paywall where people pay to listen. Or you might offer extra access to you as the host, additional content, bonus guest interviews, or extra episodes behind an email gate or payment gate.

These can be really effective when you have a lower-dollar offer. This typically isn’t a high-ticket sales tool.

For example, you might have a podcast where you talk about the benefits of your paid membership community. You might also reference bonus interviews or extra content that members get access to.

Listening to that podcast then becomes a step in the sales process for joining the community.

If you’re thinking about ways to enhance the systems you already have for growing your community or selling lower-ticket items – things like memberships, ebooks, or guides – your podcast can be part of that funnel.

In some cases, a podcast becomes a conversion podcast simply because it’s private or pay-to-listen, meaning people have to pay or join your community before they can access the content.

There are a lot of tools available to set this up, but it’s important to think carefully about whether that’s the most valuable use of your podcast for your business.

Sometimes it is. But sometimes you may get more value by focusing on building relationships or engaging an audience for a higher-ticket offer further down the line.
