Micro podcasting is the authority-building shortcut nobody talks about. One key idea, 1-3 minutes, released at least twice a week. No guests, no 30-minute commitments, but structured content that answers real questions and feeds every platform you’re trying to dominate.

Micro podcasting is one of the best strategies at your disposal to get a lot of high quality, topical thought leadership style content out the door really quickly.

So a micro podcast is a short 1-3 minute podcast episode that talks about one key idea.

And this is released on a frequent schedule.

So at least two times a week is the normal cadence for a micro podcast.

This is valuable because it lets you come up with content quickly because you’re following the same basic template again and again.

And it creates structured content that’s going to be really easy for the internet robots to read.

It’s also going to answer questions and provide insights that the actual humans who you would like to do business with someday are going to be able to take advantage of.

Because it’s done in video, or even if it is done in audio, you’re going to be getting transcripts, multimedia content that you can share on the different platforms that are using them and build traction and hopefully build audiences there.

The three styles of micro podcasts that tend to be the most successful are Q&A shows, sort of like this one that you’re watching right now, where every single episode is one answer to one question.

These are great for use on social media.

They’re great for LinkedIn newsletters, they’re great for email newsletters, and they are wonderful as blog posts.

But equally valuable can be things like tips and tricks.

If you’ve got short strategies or insights or thoughts of the day that you’d like to share on a regular basis, this format can work really well for them too.

And if you’re in an industry where things are constantly changing, for example through new legislation or different innovations happening (I’m looking at you, lawyers), there’s always something going on to talk about – then this format of podcasting can allow you to comment on what is going on in your industry on a really regular basis.

And that puts you in the position of being one of the people who others in your industry are turning to when they want the latest news, when they want the hottest takes, and when they want to understand what they should be thinking about or why.

So if any of these is something that could be of value to your business, but you don’t want to invest in the whole 30 minute long podcast, interviews and guests and all of these things, micro podcasting is efficient and fast and it’s a great way to build a huge web of authority really quickly.
